It was my second mission in command, which made my stomach flutter with a terrible force. However, I couldn’t help but smile as I walked towards that place that seemed to terrify everyone. If my mother or father saw me, they would surely have a heart attack, realizing the danger I was exposing myself to just for my desire to finally become an explorer knight. My father had always wanted me to be a jeweler, just like him and his father, but despite admiring that kind of art, it was not my path, and it would never be.

The adrenaline of discovering a mystery had no comparison for me, an atmosphere too tempting to trade for such stillness. It was my instinct; I needed to solve things in the field, search thoroughly, talk to people, and try to change things. Dove had trusted me to find out more about the tunnels, which were an intense headache, and I wouldn’t disappoint her.

My conscience told me I should have let Clarisa know so she could accompany me, even if it
