Chapter 72. Gone Missing

[Principal Myles’ apartment]

Carrying news of a deceased to his family is the hardest thing to do as a cop. Captain White emits a deep sigh. He squeezed his hand into a full fist and gently gave a full-fisted knock.

It didn’t take time for the door to be answered. The door flung open. “Yes, how may I help you?” Principal Myles second daughter inquired. She opened the door halfway and waged it with her body.

Captain White flashed his badge. “I’m Captain White with the NOPD,” he said. “It’s your mother’s home?”

“Yes,” she answered with hesitation in her voice. “Hope there’s no problem?”

“You mind if I come in and speak with her?” Captain White wrapped up his badge and tossed it into his suit pocket. What he has for the family of Myles is not what he should discuss with Principal Myles’ daughter. It is indeed heavy news that she can’t even bear alone.
