Chapter 11. Caring Care

Her stomach kept hurting, and she didn't know how she got home. Wolfgang found the key in her purse, opened the door to the room, put Emily on the bed, and then asked: "Shall I prepare some hot water for you?"

Emily nodded and waited for him to boil water. She looked for a charging bag to keep warm and snuggled under the covers, feeling uneasy about taking a day off work tomorrow because of the pain from her menstrual cycle. She had to take advantage of having some strength left to call Winston and ask for a day off, or he would get angry.

Emily thought to herself, and Wolfgang came in with the hot water. He sat beside the bed and handed her a white porcelain cup, saying: "It's my first time at your house, and I couldn't find a cup, so I used this instead."

Emily weakly nodded and sipped the hot water, feeling the warmth spread throughout her body. Despite feeling embarrassed, Wolfgang's sincere words warmed her heart: "It's okay. Thank you for taking me home."
