Chapter 46. A Pregnancy Test

"Oh crap, we didn't use any condoms," I blurted out, feeling a wave of panic wash over me like a tsunami.
"Don't worry, it's more common than you think," the elderly nurse in the blue scrubs reassured me with a warm smile as she entered the room with her medical supplies. My face turned beet red, and I couldn't bring myself to meet her gaze. "No need to be embarrassed, dear. These things happen, and it's important to take precautions," she added kindly, trying to ease my discomfort.
She proceeded to examine my injured ankle, which was throbbing with pain. "Yup, it's a sprain," she confirmed, wrapping it carefully to provide support. "Here's some pain relief medicine. Remember to rest your ankle, take off the wrap at night, and keep it elevated."
"Thank you," I murmured gratefully, trying to compose myself.
