The morning after the award night, Aiden and I had to jet off on a business trip, leaving Ruby alone in bed. I debated whether to leave her a note or wake her up to share my plans, but uncertainty held me back. We didn't have the kind of relationship where we could freely discuss such matters. What if she regretted what happened between us? It could make things awkward between us, and I didn't want that. Maybe it was just the alcohol that led us to have sex. The whole situation left me feeling confused—should I try to make our relationship work, or should I stick to the original plan?

As I sat on the jet, Aiden's words from earlier kept echoing in my mind. "Are you sleeping with her?" he had asked, his anger evident.

"Who?" I feigned ignorance.

"Ruby," he replied, his tone sharp.

"Oh, her," I replied casually.

"Are you sleeping with her?" he asked again, his frustration evident.
