The night was silent but instead of feeling at peace I felt a sense of foreboding like the calm before a storm. I stepped onto my bedroom’s balcony and looked down at the garden below and then up to the sky. I couldn’t stop my mind from thinking about my mother and about what life would be like right now if she was still alive. Would I be in love with Lucien like I am now?
