Chapter 76
The front door opened and Pedro emerged, running a towel over his damp hair. "You about ready to go grab some lunch? I'm starving after wrestling with that engine."
"Sure thing," Diego agreed readily. A break for food sounded perfect. He tossed the old hose onto the driveway and started gathering up the tools to put them away.
As the brothers worked, their father came outside, surveying the state of the driveway with a critical eye.
"I don't know why you insist on leaving everything scattered around out here," he groused. "You'll trip over something one of these days."
Pedro just shrugged it off, used to the comments by now. "We're cleaning up, don't worry."
Their dad shook his head but seemed to decide not to push it further. As he turned to go back inside, he paused, pointing at the car. "You know, I was thinking..."
Pedro and Diego both looked up apprehensively
