Eve threw him a wry look over the rim of her glass. "Isn't it obvious? They want us to take the next step. To get married."
A look of understanding dawned on David's face. "Ah, I see." He was quiet for a long moment, seemingly lost in thought. Eve studied his expression, her heart stuttering when he finally met her gaze again.
"What would you say if I told you I've been thinking along those same lines?" David asked, his voice dropping to that low, rumbly timbre that never failed to send shivers down her spine. "These last few months with you have been...indescribable, Eve. You've burrowed your way into my heart more deeply than I ever could have imagined possible."
