I was already back at my apartment—a decent drive from Nelly’s place. I’d taken a long, hot shower earlier, scrubbing away the sticky remnants of the night, the scent of sex still faint on my skin even after. Now I lay sprawled across my bed in nothing but an oversized T-shirt and panties, legs tangled in the sheets, scrolling through X on my phone while my Ipad propped up beside me streamed my favorite Nigerian Call of Duty player. His voice filled the room with rapid commentary and gunfire.

Yeah, I’m a gamer girl through and through. It’s my whole job—selling pistols, skins, and lobby boosts, plus paid viewership deals and my own streams when I feel like it. Easy money, no alarm clock, no stuffy office. I’m definitely not a nine-to-five girlie. If I ever ended up in some white-collar gig, I’d probably seduce the boss until he signed half his shit over to me. That’s how ruthless I can be when I want something.

My phone buzzed on the pillow beside my head, lighting up wi
