Chapter 21. Hurt and Humiliated

Victoria sat quietly in the lobby outside the ICU, her whole body exhausted and sleepy. She hadn't eaten anything and her head was reeling as Colton's words played on and on in her head. After saying those cruel words to her, Colton had disappeared somewhere but she didn't care. She didn't have the energy to face him again to her have her heart broken again and again. Finally, unable to stay awake any longer, Victoria lay her tired head on the wall behind her and closed her eyes, dozing off to sleep.

After saying those hurtful words to her, Colton's heart broke seeing her pale and shocked face. He hadn't planned to say anything to her but somehow the words spewed out like venom from his mouth. They hurt him more than they hurt her and he couldn't go back to the lobby and face her. It was quite late when he went back. He saw her tired body sleeping on the chair awkwardly.
