Chapter 29
Freya Rose
I stirred from what felt like the worst night’s sleep I'd had in months. My head was banging, and it was like I had been hit by a truck. I could hear someone place down what sounded like a glass onto a table.
“Sam?” I called out in a raspy voice, because my throat felt like I'd swallowed razor blades.
“No, it's me,” Finnley replied softly. I opened my eyes and squinted at him. I raised my hand up and shielded my eyes from the blaring sun that was shining in through the window. Seeing my discomfort, Finnley hurried over to the window and closed the drapes for me. He returned to my side and helped me to sit up in my bed. “Is that better? Would you like some water?” He asked as he reached for the glass on my bedside table. I nodded to him, and he handed me the glass, but as I held my hand out to take it, he noticed that my hands were shaking. “Here, let me.”
He placed the glass to my lips and I gulped down the cool liquid as if my life depended on it.
