I gave Astrid a gentle pat on the head. “Don’t worry, Astrid. I’m not coming back to the pack—I’m just here for the day. Let’s go find out what their meeting is about.”
Taking her hand, I led her toward the meeting hall where everyone had already gathered. The place looked exactly the same as always: the long, polished wooden table, the high-backed chairs with faded crimson cushions, the banners of the Crimson Howl pack hanging on the walls.
It felt strange to be back after all this time.
