Celeste’s POV
A deafening roar tore through the pre-dawn stillness, jolting every werewolf in the village awake. The ground trembled beneath my feet as the beast’s furious cry echoed off the timbered cottages. I barely had time to swallow my rising panic before Arlien burst from the front door of the small house where I’d been staying.
“Oh no! He’s going to destroy the whole village!” she yelled, her voice cracking with alarm. “Kaelith! Over here!” She dashed toward the ancient wooden gate at the village’s edge, and the Wendigo followed in her wake, smashing through fences, scattering boards, toppled barrels, anything that stood in its path. Its monstrous form rippled with raw, corrupt power as it surged forward.
