Chapter 29

I didn’t sleep well at all. The stone floor made places hurt that I didn’t even know I had. But when I opened my eyes and saw my crazy bearded soul mate, my pain didn’t matter any more. All that mattered to me, was getting us out of there. I sat up and stretched. My aching bones clicked and cracked and it felt good. My noise made Chase wake up.

“Morning, babe,” he said sleepily.

“Morning.”

I knew he'd only just opened his eyes, but I needed answers and wanted to go over some ideas on how we could escape.

“How do you remember me?”

“Irene cast a spell so I could remember her, but it let me remember everything.” He sat up and stretched his legs out. With his back pressed up against the wall he continued, “I had to pretend that I loved her. She was highly jealous and killed any girl that showed interest in me.”

“Oh God, Chase. I am so sorry you had to go through that.”
