Over the next few months, Mádia was always accompanied by Anna and the guards who kept her safe. She, like Nereus, feared little Eros.
The day before Marcia gave birth to her son, she had an encounter. She was walking through the palace gardens when a tall, yellow-eyed man, who vaguely resembled her husband, met her. He ran his hand lovingly over her belly and smiled as if he were an old friend.
