The creature dropped from the ceiling, stood up and stared at Theo, sneering as he stood in front of Giovana in a protective gesture.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk... So you think you can defend her from me? Even though I'm in extracorporeal form?" He looked disdainfully at the nursery. Then he turned back to Theo. "Living among humanity has reduced you..." He said and gestured around the room. "... To this? Is that what you aspire to? I'm disappointed. Literally disappointed. You weren't created to have the desires of mere mortals. You've become arrogant idiots with a little more strength and intelligence than ordinary humans, but still average."
"Who are you?"
The creature looked at him and smiled.
"I always preferred Luc. He deduced things at a speed that surprised even me."
"Well, that's not what I asked. Right now your preferences are the least important thing here."
