Luc arrived back at the palace exhausted, but eager to see his precious Giovanna.

She was so beautiful that morning when they loved that he couldn't get angry at her offenses, just as she couldn't occupy her mind with the constant humiliations he inflicted on her. There was something so special about the way she relaxed, it felt like the sky was opening up and the storm in her life was being swept away.

Freya was waiting for him in the living room and he hugged her affectionately. But when he pulled away, he felt his joy fade. Freya looked at him worriedly.
