Chapter 80. Confronted
Hovar let go of Giovanna's hand and approached the bed, oblivious to the dim light and saw, with a twinge of pain in his chest, Calleb with his thick, long beard, all white, his skin wrinkled and dirty, and his body smelling bad. He knelt down and cried, putting his arms around Calleb's head. He opened his eyes. His voice was weak.
"Hovar? Is that you?"
"Tell me what to do! You're not going to die! I won't let you!"
He practiced a smile that looked more like a grimace, but his face remained calm afterwards.
"It's the nature of life, brother. Things get easier this way..."
Hovar shook his head negatively.
"No. I don't want anything to be uncomplicated if I have to live in a world without you!"
"I'm sorry I wasn't a better brother. You always tried to get closer and I... You know my reasons..."
