"Do you think our plan worked?" Ronan asked Maribel, leaning over the kitchen counter.

"We won't know until you speak to her," Gigi replied, opening the oven. The smell of her marinated roasted chicken and potatoes filled the kitchen, making my mouth water.

"Let me help with that," I offered, taking the kitchen towel from her to help take out the tray. The moment I set it on the counter, Ronan stretched his hand to pick a piece. Gigi slapped his hand, making him withdraw it quickly.
