Chapter 141. Goodbye

Elise’s POV

After 24 hours, there was no sign that Dexter’s death was anything other than natural. Owen and Kalix joined me and the other three families for brunch, and then we left with Caius and Chris to say our final goodbyes to a person who died too soon.

The trip to Caius’s pack house took two hours, and there was an awkward silence in the car. I was too sad and had to use all of my energy to keep it from going deep into the souls of every wolf I was linked to.

I still didn’t know what soul magic was all about, but I felt it deep in my...well, soul. I felt so many different things that I wasn’t sure which ones were really mine anymore.

I sat between Kalix and Owen, even though Caius told me I should be in front. I thought it was kind of silly to put three Alphas in the back of the car while Caius drove and I sat up front.
