Chapter 149. Waiting
Elise’s POV
The next few mornings, I’ll have breakfast with my family, but Caius and Chris won’t be there. Now that they were officially on the council, they only had to show up for meetings once a month. It seemed strange not to see them every day.
Kalix told the King that his warriors had found a few places where rebels were hiding, but they only had a few prisoners, so they wouldn’t be back for two weeks. Owen, Kalix, and I have already talked about how they wouldn’t let anyone else be used as a test subject. They told their soldiers to only kill if they had to, but mostly to leave people alone and protect those who needed it. Some of the families they found made it to Caius so they could join his pack.
Once the King was dead, we could decide what would happen to them, but until then, we had to keep them out of Luna Marissa’s labs.
