Chapter 99. Devotion
Kalix’s POV
I had to get to Elise, and I hoped it wasn’t too late. Even though he seemed strange when he said he didn’t care about her after breakfast, I hoped Caius would show up. I went to the hospital to get some medicine, but I wasn’t sure what I needed. After that, I went to the castle.
I stopped to talk to Dex for a few minutes, but he told me to hurry to our Queen. I didn’t like how the god talked through him. I knew that she was the one who made us our goddess, but, like my father, I didn’t like the way she did things.
I got to Elise’s closet by sneaking through the passages. I closed the trap door quietly and listened for a sound, but I didn’t hear anything. I looked out the door and saw Caius sitting on her bed with his elbows on his knees. He was very nervous, and I knew she still hadn’t come back.
“Wow! This is quite a sight. The big, bad Alpha at the mercy of a weak little princess.”
“Stop talking, Kalix, or you’ll be the one who needs help
