Chapter 27
Orion, fully anticipating a barrage of emotions from her, like screams, outright refusal, angry curses, and sharp words, was taken aback by what Maverick uttered next - a statement so unexpected it defied the logic of any reasonable woman. Irony seemed to hang heavily in the air, as he couldn't help but find it amusing that she, the supposed epitome of a blushing bride-to-be, was fleeing from her very own fiancée. The mere mention of the word "fiancée" almost elicited a scoff from Orion, as he couldn't help but question the validity and authenticity of such a title. However, what truly shocked him beyond measure was not her decision to escape, but rather the seemingly emotionless expression plastered across her face and the cold, biting words that slipped from her lips.
