Chapter 289. Control Your Emotions

“Put me down Carlos,” Ashley whispered.

“What? Of course not.”

“Carlos don’t be stubborn,” she insisted, breathing hard through the pain. “They’re here for you, not me. Emergency personnels will be here before you can blink create a distraction and run. I’ll be fine.”

“Absolutely not.”

“Carlos stop arguing.”

“No,” Carlos insisted. “If this is where I die, so be it.” He looked at the gun pointed at his face.

The masked man’s eyes drifted to Ashley then back to Carlos. “Not quite,” he said with a raspy voice. “Today is your lucky day.” Faster than Carlos could keep track or anticipate, he turned the gun to Ashley and shot. “It’s her turn today.” He added another bullet then another before he turned and left.
