“So you finally accept that you’re going to die?” Carlos asked, voice turning serious.

“It’s not a matter of acceptance is it?” the man asked. “You are going to kill me and there is no way anyone is coming to save me, I’m sure you’ve made sure of that. I’d been grasping at straws since, I just didn’t want to accept it but that’s simply the behavior of a man who doesn’t want to die. I like to think that I’ve been a sensible man in life even if you don’t accept it. I should be a sensible man still when I die.”

Carlos frowned. He really had accepted it. “Ah fuck,” Carlos said softly. “That’s no fun.”

“You’d have prepared it if I were screaming and raging huh?”

“More like I’d prefer it if I were giving you something you didn’t want, not something didn’t mind,” Carlos said. “This is a revenge, you’re supposed to hate that I am killing you. It’s supposed to hurt you excruciatingly. That’s what makes it satisfying.”
