Chapter 82. Took You Long Enough
There was nothing like being rescued. Whenever she tried to see her father as a human being and not an emotionless monster, she would remember being seven years old and seeing her father at the scene of the crime. She had run to him with tears in her eyes. She remembered hugging him as though she would never let him go. He had been so gentle and brought with him so much safety.
As he clutched her quivering form to his chest and made no move to remove what must have been a death grip on his neck, she’d felt as though nothing in the world could ever hurt her.
