Chapter 3

Unexpectedly Witnessed

After a week, he really proves that he's a man of words. He didn't really show up. I don't see him at school anymore. Wait, why am I looking for him? Should I be happy because no one is bothering my fucking life anymore? I don't know, but I really feel guilty because I made him cry. Whether it's sincere or not, I still have a guilty conscience. I was also a little scared because Dad's work might be affected. Fortunately, that man also really has goodness. My family also asked and looked for him. They always questioned me why doesn't that man come to the house anymore. Poor creatures, they don't know. I have cast away their favorite person out of our lives.

Screw that thought of him! I am free now.

By the way, I'm here now at our hacienda. It's not far from home. This is one of my happiest places. Very peaceful, good for stargazing, and you can clearly see the beauty of Las Haciendas, which is so breathtaking. Since it was already eight in the evening, I decided to leave.

I was about to leave when I heard a gunshot. So out of my curiosity, I checked where the shot came from, and in the distance, I saw someone running, and then he was shot. So, of course, out of fear, I hid. I saw people with guns approach him.

"Please, have mercy! I will not repeat what I did." But, instead of giving mercy, they give him loads of bullets.

What the fuck did I just see? I just witnessed an actual crime. I was trembling with fear. I don't know what to do anymore.

"Boys, I think someone is here?" When I heard that, I was even more nervous. I forgot to put away the cloth on the grass. I made a bed earlier. I was about to escape quietly, but someone suddenly covered my mouth.

"Shhh. It's me… It's me, Klio." I looked at him. It's really him, Klio. What is this man doing here? I didn't think twice because of my fear. I suddenly hugged him.

"It's okay. I'm here," he whispered and tapped my back, and stroked my hair to calm me down. We could not leave our hiding place. We stayed here for a while until the killers just left for our safety. We're just sitting now, and Klio is hugging me with his arms around my shoulder. Now I can feel his heartbeat. I looked up at him and he was already staring at me and he was so damn fine with that serious look. His face shape really looks perfect. Does this man have insecurities? His facial features resemble a westerner's face, and his ash with a hue of gray eyes is twinkling. It's very angelic. Attitude is the only problem sometimes. I avoid staring at him because I might fall, but I guess I'm safe now.

"Are you okay?" he asked calmly, but his voice sounded really concerned.

I never answered him. I lost myself suddenly. I still can't believe what I just saw.

"Don't worry, I won't leave you," he added as he stroked my hair. Well, my wavy hair just goes with the flow.

The next thing I knew, I just woke up when the sun's rays hit me in the eyes. I fell asleep at Klio's shoulder. He didn't really leave me. He's really a man of words. He was already asleep; I was just watching him. I was surprised when he suddenly spoke.

"Did you know that staring at me like that is a crime?" he said. I just looked at him in confusion.

"You could have killed me with that look," he added and smiled. I hit him, and I stood up to leave. Since it's already morning, maybe the killers are gone. But before that, I noticed there was no trace of blood or anything at the scene last night. Even the cloth I used was gone. Everything is cleared.

"Why are there no signs of crime here?" I asked.

"They've probably cleared everything," Klio said.

"So, that's it? Can't we even report them to the police? We don't even recognize their face?" Yes, we don't know what they look like because they're wearing a mask.

"Leyra, it's okay."

"Okay!? Klio someone got shot dead! We just witnessed a fucking crime! How come it was okay!?" I exclaimed.

"I know, but we can't do anything about it now. Do you think if we reported this crime without any evidence, they would believe in us? Leyra, aren't you aware? We are in Las Haciendas, home of Elites; people are hungry for power and money here, and killings have become normal. And, besides, we're just putting our lives in danger." Before we argued, I decided to leave him for my peace. I'm still exhausted.

"Leyra, wait!" he called.

"I need to go home. I'm sure mommy and daddy are worried."

I just kept walking, but he suddenly pulled me back.

"I'll take you home," he insisted. I diverted my gaze to his hand, which gripped my wrist before he could realize he had dropped my arms quickly. He gulped, and I saw the movement of his Adam's apple.

I didn't hesitate about his offer. Besides, I'm still a little bit scared.

Finally, we arrived home.

"Lady, we've been looking for you. What is this mess again, huh!?" It was Mom's voice who welcomed me as soon as I entered the door. How many medals can I get here? Instead of asking me if I'm okay, it looks like she sees a mistake again. Before I could speak, Klio led me.

"Something happened."

"What!?" Mommy and Daddy shouted. My parents exaggerated so much. What do they think? I gave up the pearl of the orient seas?

"Mr. and Mrs. Madrid, it's not what you thought," Klio cleared.

"Mom, dad, don't worry, I won't be invaded by Spain," I teased. Klio looked at me and looked surprised as well. I know deep down he wanted that approach.

"Leyra, enough!" Dad raised his voice, and he looked angry.

"Oh, chill!" I tease again. I don't know why I'm like this!

"I'll explain everything, but for now, Leyra needs to rest," Klio added while looking at me.

"You don't have to worry. I'm fine," I said and left them.

I went upstairs and went straight to the room. I also took a bath; my body is also itchy. After that, I sat on the bed and processed in my brain what had happened earlier.

Do I have a brain? I just found out now.

After an hour, I was surprised when Klio suddenly entered my room.

"What the hell are you doing here!?" I shouted.

"Invading your privacy," he said and winked. He is really getting on my nerves!

"You're not just invading my privacy! You're invading my fucking life! So, get out!" I pushed him, but he held and hugged me. I can feel my heart beating so fast.

"I just want to make sure you're okay before I leave."

He let go of the hug, and he didn't wait for me to answer. He went down and left. Now I'm speechless about what he did.
