Chapter 169. Saving Grace

Savannah’s POV

“You think you’ve won, huh, little kitten?” Carter sneers, keeping his gaze on me. “Well, guess what? One click of a button and we’re all gonna die right now!”

“Stop!” I warn, coming a step closer. “Don’t do it!”

“Don’t come any closer!” He yells at me, holding onto the button, and I take a step back.

The air is thick with tension and I can barely breathe. Carter has nothing else to lose. If he’s going down, he’s taking all of us down with him. I wreck my brain looking for an answer, looking for something to get us out of this situation, but I don’t see a way out! There’s no way we can make it out of here alive!

I look at Logan and Harlan and they too are lost. They’ve thought about all the possible scenarios, but not this. Logan turns to me and puts on a brave face. I know what he’s thinking, he can use his super strength to shield me from the explosion.

But, no! That means he’s gonna die!
