Chapter 19

Hazel’s POV

A movement happened in my peripheral vision as Claus stood up. My eyes followed him as he walked towards us. The blue-green combination of his eyes somehow made me think of an island surrounded by ocean, the serenity the scene brought, but his gaze screamed domination.

His eyes were on us, or alternatively on me, as he walked towards us.

“Let her go, Cassius. She’s wounded, she needs rest.” As much as his words shocked me, the fact that Cassius obeyed him was startling. Cassius let out a growl of raw frustration before pulling away as I immediately took it as my chance and slipped from his hold. My feet moved back as I stood at a safer distance from them. My hands immediately pressed against my chest as I felt my raging heartbeat.

Claus looked at me tentatively for a moment before looking at Cassius.
