Hazel’s POV
That little scared me. Nearly shook me to core.
I had witnessed enough to know what his tightening grip on my arm said, the slight twitch of his jaw, the furious gaze as it hardened on my face. My lips sealed shut. I couldn’t even hiss in pain, afraid if he might implicit the same pain over my soul too. The man was not dangerous. Danger was him.
“Oh! My apologies! There’s something that needs my attention immediately. I’ll be back. Please have seats.” Malachi smiled. The strain was not missable. His eyes were not gleaming as he followed the guard. The guard who had whispered some words into Malachi’s ears, the look immediately told me what they must had been. It was not just a look of confusion on guard’s face but a look of fear also, hindered behind his armored helmet.
