Chapter 2
“I love her, I do, but I can't see her letting me ever grow up.” Carrie sulked as she threw herself onto my bed and let out a loud shriek of anger.
I sat down next to Carrie, giving her a sympathetic look. I knew that my mother's protectiveness could sometimes feel suffocating, significantly, as we grew older and wanted to explore the world around us.
“I understand, Carrie. It can be frustrating to feel like you're not being given the chance to grow and experience things on your own,” I said softly, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder.
“But remember, our mother only wants what's best for us. She’s just worried about our safety,” I added, trying to offer some perspective on our mother's actions.
Carrie let out a frustrated sigh, her emotions running high. “I know, I know. But sometimes I wish she would trust me more and let me spread my wings a little,” she lamented, her eyes fill
