Chapter 17
As I emerged on the other side, I felt excitement and a sense of trepidation. I had never attempted to travel through a portal before, and the experience was both exhilarating and overwhelming. The air was thick with the scent of human city, and I could hear the distant hum of cars and sirens.
I took a deep breath, trying to get my bearings. I knew that Luke was somewhere in the city, and I had to find him. I couldn't fail.
“Luke! I found you, thank goddess.” I yelled.
I felt a surge of relief wash over me as I approached him. He looked up as I approached, his eyes locking onto mine with a mixture of surprise and concern.
"Carrie," he said softly. "What are you doing here? How did you get here?" he grabbed me and hugged me tightly.
