Chapter 27

  I woke up the following day in a horrible sweat; my body ached, and I tried to reach Cleo, but it was as if she was no longer within me. I woke up and noticed that Aaron was still fast asleep. He looked so peaceful, and I did not want to disturb him since he was exhausted. My thoughts turned back to the unborn baby growing inside of me. Everyone had been so happy for us, so excited and pleased. Yet, I had that horrible nagging feeling in the back of my mind about Mrs. Jenkins. Alpha Leon had insisted that she had been cared for, but what did that ever mean? Was she dead? That old woman was evil; she deserved to be rid of, but what if there were more to the story than I had been told?

  I wished that Cleo would come to me and help me to figure this out, but mostly to reassure me that I was not going crazy. I felt like I needed to hurry up and find these answers before my baby was born into the world. Mrs Jenkins had done a lot of evil in her time.
