Chapter 21. Philip and Barbara's Deal
"Mom, I want to drink," she said hoarsely.
Philip flinched. Swiftly, he handed her a bottle of water equipped with a straw. "Be careful. Don't spill it. I don't want to be bothered anymore. It’s already late."
Barbara was taken aback. Her eyes trembled at the handsome face that looked uncomfortable in front of her.
"Where's Mom?"
Philip looked back. "Sleep. She entrusted you to me. So, don't make any problem."
Barbara sighed in disbelief. Melanie always called herself her favorite child. But now, how could she sleep soundly when her daughter was suffering?
“What did the doctor say? Have I been given an antidote? I'll be fine, right?”
Philip frowned. "Didn't you ask for water earlier? Drink! Don’t make my hands sore for holding this too long."
Barbara grimaced. Like it or not, she accepted the straw offered by Philip. After that, she looked away.
