Chapter 68

When Jane decided that she was going to call Williams, it didn’t occur to her that she would be this way. She started stammering. Stammering didn’t just come to her like this. She didn’t even know that Rachel was listening because she just jumped to her rescue. She understood what she was going through because she could relate to what was happening to her.

She was always that way with Hayden. She was supposed to comport herself. She couldn’t help it because of how she was just remembering everything that happened between them. It came like a wave. She was shocked and surprised at the same time. Maybe that was what made her stammer. She wasn’t going to tell herself that she stammered because she was in love with him or hearing his voice made her vulnerable because she didn’t even understand what was wrong with her.

Rachel tried for her, standing up for her when she didn’t expect her to do that. It was one thing she was always grateful for: that she had Rachel on her side
