Chapter 40

Aria’s skin prickled suddenly. “Shut up.” She just swallowed and fidgeted where she stood, biting her lips aggressively and bruising them without realising.

She thought that was a good coping mechanism and assumed she was in control of herself till she suddenly froze.

A strange sensation rolled through her lower belly; not pain, but not pleasure either. Maybe a mix of both. Her breath hitched, heart stuttering.

“What the hell…Maya” she whispered. “Did you feel that?”

“It’s getting stronger, you might want to brace yourself,” Maya warned, but Aria didn’t get enough time to implement the warning.

Heat bloomed beneath her skin, spreading fast enough to make her dizzy. Maya pulsed inside her. Aria went back to the bed and sank onto the edge of the bed, hands gripping the sheets as another wave hit; stronger this time.

It was when she realised how serious what Maya had warned about was. She just felt it. The bond. It pulled hard again so her head snapp
