Chapter 90

When they went out, Aren was already waiting. They were about to get in the car when Selena stopped them, scolding Aren in front of everyone.

“I told you to let them know I prepared breakfast and you were just going to let them get in the car?”

“I… I didn’t think you actually meant it…” Aren stammered through his lie. He had figured it would be easier to apologize to her later on when he decided not to do what she requested him to do.

The plan was to get going to the trial and get it over with. He just wanted Cole to find out what he did and get his reaction over with. He felt guilty after visiting some members of the council privately, and felt guilty about what they urged him to do to save Ironwood. He knew Cole would lose it when he found out and didn’t want to be the one to tell him but the longer they stood there not getting into the car, the longer he felt guilty and wanted to tell him just what he did last night.

“Look at poor Aria, she looks starved.”
