Chapter 58. Remember
“Y-Yes!” I tried to hide the happiness in my voice, but I think I failed.
The door opened, revealing River. He looked exhausted, but when he saw my face, his expression lit up.
But his happiness converted into worry upon seeing the IV drip on my arm.
Quickly, he went toward me and sat at the edge of the bed. “How are you feeling?”
“Shitty and scared,” I answered honestly with a chuckle. “Every time there is too much silence, it feels like my mind is doing its best to take me down. So I’m glad that you’re here. Thank you for stopping all the noises in my head just by your presence.”
I can’t remember the time I became honest like this, but it feels so liberating. If it’s with River, there’s nothing I should be afraid of.
