Calla held her breath the entire time Jace walked toward her. Up close, he looked almost the same as she remembered, yet different in small ways that told her time had passed. 

His brown hair was a little shorter, his shoulders a little broader, and there was a quiet confidence in the way he carried himself. But the smile on his face was still the same one she remembered from years ago.

“Lyra,” he said again when he reached their table, his voice warm with surprise. “Wow… It’s really you.”
