Chapter 149. Strawberries, Blackberries & Chocolate

It was five in the morning, and Calla was already up, her entire body was giddy with excitement as she headed for the kitchen. She had barely slept a wink, her head occupied with thoughts about today. It's Rico's birthday, and she wanted to make a simple and special cake for him. 

The maids were already in the kitchen, busy with their chores and prepping meals. She smiled to herself, thinking they were making a birthday breakfast for Rico. Her heart warmed at the thought.

When she'd told them she needed to make a cake to go with his breakfast, they all looked at her like she had grown two heads. Calla couldn't understand why they seemed so shocked and... scared?
