Chapter 168. Need Closure
Rico stepped back from the body, his eyes still on Salvatore as if waiting for him to move again, to speak again, or to take back what he had said. But nothing happened.
He dragged a hand down his face, exhaling slowly. He turned back to the body one last time, his expression was hard again, all traces of emotion buried deep.
“Clean this up,” he said without looking at Costa or Matteo—who were still in the room. "His head should be preserved in a box..." he instructed. "It'll be needed soon."
Footsteps moved behind him immediately.
Rico grabbed his coat and put it on without another word. As he walked toward the exit, his face was calm again, but his mind wasn’t. Because no matter how much he tried to convince himself that he wasn't bothered about what Salvatore said about Calla, something small kept tugging at that trust.
