Chapter 98. As a Traitor
Calla stood frozen by the door, her eyes unblinking and lips quivering. She couldn’t react, it was as if she’d been frozen in time.
Her eyes stayed on Rico, silently believing that he would somehow disappear if she kept looking at him.
How did he get into her house? Into her room? The locks weren’t tampered with, and there was no sign of a break-in.
How then could he have let himself in?
“Isn’t it a little late to be out?” His deep voice said steady, stripped of warmth. It was enough to raise the hair on her skin. Her breath hitched, and her heart sank to her feet.
He hadn’t even for once looked at her since she walked in. His gaze stayed on the tool in his hands—the one he’d used to open the door. He slowly twirled it between his fingers, watching it glisten with the light.
Calla saw he had something else in the other hand, but she didn’t know what it was.
