Chapter 42. A Promise

The guests had left, and Ralph and Raven returned to their apartment. Ralph unlocked the door and his chauffeur brought up their luggage upstairs. After they went inside, Ralph locked the door and Raven’s heartbeats increased when he looked at her. He strode towards her and picked her up in his arms, bridal style. Raven’s arms went around his shoulders for support. The suddenness of it all had her heart beating like thunder. The entire ride back to the apartment, Raven had been having butterflies in her stomach thinking about what would happen once they reached. 

“Welcome to my world, my sweet Raven,” he whispered into her ear, inhaling her sweet, addictive scent, his eyes glued to hers. Raven blushed and hid her face in his neck. He chuckled and carried her to his bedroom. Raven looked around with wide eyes. So would he make love to her tonight? She already felt a strange wetness just at the thought. 

“Oh,” she gasped as he deposited her on his bed, standing a
