Jackson's POV
I still couldn’t wrap my head around everything Monica had just told me. Her confession was the most shocking thing I’d ever heard, and I had no idea how to even begin processing it.
My mother knew all along. That explained why she always defended Monica, never raised her voice at her, no matter how much I complained. Now, everything made sense, every soft look, every time she told me to be more patient with Monica.
If it were anyone else who had told me this, I probably would’ve lost it. I might have knocked their teeth out for even suggesting something so outrageous. But Monica had said it herself, in tears, while clinging to me like I was her last anchor.
Yes, Monica had a lot of flaws, more than I cared to count, but I knew she would never lie about something like this. Not her. Once upon a time, she was my everything. My queen. The woman I imagined would raise our kids while dancing with them in our garden.
