Now that I think about it, Mom never said it was necessary. I'm not in the market for a husband right now. However, she may end up choosing my future husband. That's a huge faux pas.

“You need more time off?" he asked.

"No, but that's not so bad," I said. "I need a boyfriend or someone to pose as one. My mother thinks I should be getting married now that I'm thirty. So, I must prove to her that I'm interested in someone else.”

“And because you're asking, I think you're interested in me?" Inquired he. His expression resembled that of a pet who had just been given a treat.

"If I were you," I said, "I wouldn't be so excited. She doesn't have to know if I have feelings for the person I'm bringing," I said, crossing my arms. “I could invite anyone at all.”

"I hear you," his smile remained fixed. “I'll take care of it. I'm down to see your
