Chapter 133. The River of Peril
The air began to warm as the sun rose. Red awoke with a jerk, startled to find herself asleep in Aamon's arms. She blinked, barely believing how close Aamon's face was. It was a moment Red would never forget, watching Aamon sleep so peacefully.
Slowly, Aamon's eyes opened, and he smiled as his eyes squinted. "Morning," he said in a husky voice.
He leaned over and planted a soft kiss on Red's forehead before sitting up, instantly alert. Meanwhile, Red had to stretch, her muscles aching from the rest.
"Are we leaving now?" Ursula's voice startled both Aamon and Red.
When they nodded, Ursula picked them up and started walking towards the tunnel, light shining from her eyes. The group followed immediately, stepping into the shadow of the tunnel behind her.
The walls of the tunnel were made of smooth, shiny black stone, their surfaces smooth to the touch. The path they traveled was straight, with no real obstacles.
