Chapter 139. The Final Leap
Just a few more feet, and they would make it.
"Okay, let's make the last jump, Ursula. On my count," Red panted. "Three, two, and one!"
Ursula's jump came close, and her body hurled to the edge of the gap. The robot's hands gripped the ledge tightly, and her legs dangled below.
Ursula quickly pulled herself up, and with a loud "thud," her heavy form landed safely.
"We did it!" Red shouted, filled with joy.
Red looked at Ursula's hands, which were nearly destroyed. Some of the plates attached to them shattered. The robot's body was charred, marked by the remnants of lightning strikes and previous droid attacks.
But they had made it—Ursula and Red had survived a vicious lightning storm onslaught.
Inside the tunnel, dim torches held by the people gave some light. Red stepped out of Ursula's chest, feeling the ache and pulsing pain throughout her body.
Two people ran forward from the crowd, including Aelea and Fiona.
