Book 3: Snowball Fight

My first plan didn’t work out. Hell, I haven’t seen paw nor tail of Kash since that disastrous conversation with him. I have no idea why it went to shit. It really seemed like we were onto something, like Candace was about to unearth some big secret… and then he just shut down.

I roll out my shoulders. I’m not dwelling on old plans today. Not when I’ve got a new one to try.

Thank the Goddess I do. Candace hasn’t come to see me since Kash turned us down, and it’s making me a little itchy.

I crack my knuckles then rap on her plain, wooden door. She opens it, raises one golden eyebrow.

My breath catches. Fuck, I’m so glad she’s here. Even if she says she’s mostly here for Eva, even if we can’t figure this out and she leaves again, just having her here is like taking a physical weight off my chest. Being able to knock on her door means both of us stand a shot of getting out of this.

“I have a new plan,” I say.
