Chapter 18. In the Woods
Elijah fell to the ground, feeling his energy drain away. The surrounding atmosphere was dark, and all around him were tall trees. He tried to get up, but his body seemed unwilling to cooperate. He collapsed again, breathing heavily.
"Ah, damn it," he hissed.
Sweat soaked Elijah's entire body. He didn't know how to keep from running out of energy in an instant, because every time he used power, it was as if he wanted to use it again and again. As a result, he couldn't control the limits of his body.
Having a premonition that the rebels would not stand still, Elijah knew they would come after him. He crawled slowly as he gathered his strength. Looking for a place to hide would be ridiculous, for those who lived in Twin Falls had known the forest well for years.
The only way was to get as far away from the rebels as possible.
