Chapter 40. Isaac and the Three
Isaac let out a breath that sounded like a sigh. One hand clutched the shabby backpack he had brought from Auburn. He approached Dominic, who was sitting on the terrace of the barracks, a faint smile on his face.
"Stop bending your face, Isaac," Dominic said.
Isaac only responded by rolling his eyeballs. But that didn't make Dominic angry at the young man's indifferent attitude. Instead, the man continued.
"Being here will not make you a great Deformity later. You should be excited about being transferred to Section D."
"You sound like my father. Although I don't really remember what he was like."
"Should I be upset or flattered?"
Isaac shrugged. "It's up to you."
Dominic struggled to his feet until he finally took Isaac's hand. They both exhaled again and there was a few seconds of silence between them.
